Dispersal |
||
|
Following on from our previous post, on Wednesday 15 April, a section 34 dispersal was put in place to help officers combat anti-social behaviour.
Whilst the dispersal was in place 10 individuals causing concern were given direction to leave the city centre. Whilst most took the hint and moved on as instructed, 5 clearly decided the rules didn’t apply to them… spoiler alert, they do!
Those 5 chose to breach the dispersal order and quickly found themselves back on our radar. Our officers wasted no time tracking them down, and all were located, arrested and have since been charged.
They’ve now also been given conditions not to enter the city centre – so it’s safe to say their plans for a return visit have been firmly cancelled.
Dispersal orders aren’t suggestions; they’re there to help keep everyone safe and ensure the city centre remains a welcoming place for the wider community. Choosing to ignore them will only lead to one outcome, as these individuals have now discovered.
We’ll continue to take action where needed and as always, we appreciate the support from the public in helping us keep Derby a safe place to live, work and visit.
